eBay for Blackberry Smartphones is a piece of eBay software that has been developed by Blackberry and as you might be able to guess it is only compatible with Blackberry phones. Blackberry created this application to allow users to stay up to date on their auctions without being tied to a computer. This is one area of online shopping that will only continue to evolve, and eBay for Blackberry makes huge strides towards this goal.
eBay for Blackberry allows you to search for an item, quickly add an item to your watch list and even bid on items. You can even add the auction end date to your calendar or set up an email reminder. The functionality of this app does not stop there. You can even tell the software to update you when a bid is made on an auction. eBay for Blackberry is PayPal compatible so you are able to pay for your auctions directly from your smartphone.
eBay for Blackberry Smartphones is still in beta testing, which means that there could be some issues with the functionality of the software. If you experience any issues you are encouraged to report them.
Review
Despite this eBay software still being in beta I was unable to find any faults with it. I did some searching, added some items to my watch list and even placed some bids without any issue. I think it is really cool how you can add eBay auctions to your calendar or setup email notifications for when auctions are about to end. This software shows the potential of smartphones and shopping on eBay, I think it is great to be able to do your shopping wirelessly without having to have a computer nearby.
One area for improvement would be the ability to snipe auctions. I think it would be really really cool if Blackberry could make this software automatically snipe an auction at the last second. When that happens this software gets a 10 out of 10.
This is an an eBay application that is aimed strictly at buyers. It allows you to watch, bid, search and even setup notifications for auctions.
While the Blackberry eBay app does work like a charm. Even sending me updates of items ending soon that may be of interest to me, I won’t utilize it too much. I mostly SELL on eBay. If they simply added the ability to check YOUR online auctions and answer any messages you have, this App would be 100+ stars for me, until then I can only give it 5/10 because it leaves out Half of the ebay equation! Searching and Buying on eBay works wonderfully. Although a snipe tool would be cool as well, I’m sure that will be left to third party developers to come up with their own app.
